We’re sure you’ve seen all the updates and fundraising that has been going on over the last few weeks/months as part of our Joint Venture with Winstanley Park Cricket Club to build our own home and pitches on land next door to Winstanley College; together with the bigger dream of providing a sports & community hub for the local areas and beyond.

Hopefully, you will have also all seen our new crowdfunding initiative to move the speed sign on Winstanley Road to make it safer for all users before we enter the site construction phase. (www.justgiving/crowdfunding/movethesign)

Now, we are delighted to announce that the two clubs will merge on 1 December 2018 under the banner of Orrell and Winstanley Community Sports Club. This is a great step forward on our journey to achieving the dream.

The motion to move forward on the merger of the two clubs, together with their assets and the associated conditions applying to the transfer, was approved by members at the AGM in May 2017.

Nothing changes in respect of membership; membership fees remain the same and members are still members of Orrell RUFC but have the additional benefit of membership of Winstanley Park Cricket Club as part of the overall membership of Orrell and Winstanley Community Sports Club. This will also apply to any other sport sections that join under the same banner, such as bowling and rounders.

Each club will retain its individual identity and logo, it is just the legal name and bank accounts that will change to “Orrell and Winstanley Community Sports Club” and you may see more information/ communications under that banner or from Orrell RUFC (a member of Orrell and Winstanley Community Sports Club) or Winstanley Park Cricket Club (a member of Orrell and Winstanley Community Sports Club).

We are very proud of what we have achieved to date and look forward to sharing more news and information regarding the journey to our new home over the coming months.
