At Orrell RUFC, we believe rugby is about much more than what happens on the pitch. It's about teamwork, friendship, respect and creating opportunities for players of all ages to develop, grow in confidence and enjoy being part of something special.

Whether you're a player, parent, family member, volunteer, sponsor or supporter, you're part of our club community. And one of the most important ways we can work together to protect and develop that community is through fundraising.

Because fundraising isn't just about raising money. It's about creating opportunities, supporting our players and securing the future of our club.

The Reality of Running a Grassroots Rugby Club

Like many grassroots sports clubs, Orrell RUFC relies on the support of its members and wider community to help keep the club running.

We don't own our own ground or facilities. This means we have to hire venues for both our training sessions and matchday games, creating a significant and ongoing expense for the club throughout the season.

Every week, we need suitable facilities for our players to train, develop their skills and prepare for matches, as well as venues where our teams can compete. These costs are an essential part of providing rugby opportunities for our members, but they also represent a considerable financial commitment for the club.

Alongside facility hire, there are many other essential expenses involved in running a rugby club, including:

* Rugby balls, training equipment and other essential resources.
* Insurance and Rugby Football Union affiliation fees.
* Referees, match costs and competition entry fees.
* First aid and player welfare provision.
* Coaching and volunteer development.
* League and competition entry fees
* Presentation Evenings
* Kit for all players
* General administration and day-to-day running costs (such as pitch maintenance).

These costs aren't always visible when players take to the pitch, but they're essential to keeping the club operating and providing a positive rugby experience.

Unlike clubs that own their own grounds, we must continually fund the facilities we use to train and play. This makes fundraising particularly important to our ability to operate, develop and plan for the future.

Fundraising helps us meet these costs, keep rugby accessible and invest in the future of Orrell RUFC.

What Does Your Support Make Possible?

Our aim is to provide a positive rugby experience for everyone who joins us, from our youngest Mini & Junior players through to our senior teams.

Fundraising helps us work towards that aim in several important ways.

Supporting Players of All Ages

Every training session, matchday and festival gives players the opportunity to learn new skills, improve their fitness, develop confidence and build friendships.

From children taking their first steps in rugby to senior players representing the club each weekend, we want everyone to feel valued and to have the opportunity to reach their potential.

Keeping Rugby Accessible

We want rugby to be an enjoyable and accessible sport for our players and their families.

Fundraising helps us manage the costs of running the club and work towards keeping player subscriptions as affordable as possible, while ensuring we can continue to provide the facilities, equipment and support our teams need.

Investing in Development and Welfare

A successful rugby club is about more than results.

We want our players to develop as individuals as well as rugby players, learning the importance of teamwork, resilience, discipline, respect and sportsmanship.

Investment in equipment, coaching, training resources and player welfare helps us provide a positive environment in which our players can learn, develop and enjoy the game.

Building a Club for the Future

We want Orrell RUFC to continue growing, welcoming new players and creating opportunities for generations to come.

Every contribution to our fundraising efforts helps us strengthen the club, support its development and build a sustainable future for the black and amber.

How Can You Support Orrell RUFC?

There are lots of ways to support your club, and you don't need to be a rugby expert or have hours of spare time to make a difference.

Whether you choose to support one of our fundraising initiatives, volunteer your time or simply help spread the word, every contribution is appreciated.

We'll share details of upcoming activities and events on our website and social media channels as they are announced.

Whether you attend an event, take part in a fundraising activity or encourage friends and family to support us, your involvement makes a difference.

Club Membership — Supporting Your Club

Player membership subscriptions are an important part of keeping Orrell RUFC running and helping us provide opportunities for everyone who pulls on the black and amber shirt.

As a club that doesn't own its own facilities, we rely on membership income, alongside fundraising and other support, to help cover the costs of hiring venues for training and matchdays, as well as the many other expenses involved in running a grassroots rugby club.

But did you know that parents, family members and supporters can also choose to become club members?

While player membership is an essential part of being involved in the club, we also welcome support from those who want to contribute a little extra by taking out their own membership.

There is absolutely no obligation for parents or supporters to do this. We understand that every family has different circumstances, and we appreciate all the ways people support Orrell RUFC.

However, if you are in a position to become a member yourself, your contribution can make a real difference, helping us meet our ongoing costs and invest in the future of the club.

Every membership helps, every contribution counts, and together we can keep Orrell RUFC moving forward.

Support Us Through Sponsorship

Local businesses and individuals play an important role in supporting grassroots rugby.

Sponsorship helps Orrell RUFC generate income to meet the costs of running the club, support our teams and invest in future development.

Whether you're a local business looking to support community sport, a company interested in promoting your brand or an individual who would like to help, we'd love to hear from you.

If you or your business would like to explore sponsorship opportunities, please get in touch with the club.

Volunteer, Donate or Share Your Skills

Grassroots rugby depends on people giving their time, energy and expertise.

There are many ways to help, from volunteering at events and supporting fundraising activities to donating prizes, goods or services.

If you have a skill, idea or connection that could benefit the club, we'd love to hear from you.

You don't have to do everything. Sometimes, a little help from lots of people makes the biggest difference. Whether you can spare an hour occasionally, help at an event or offer a particular skill, every contribution is valued. You don't need to commit to a regular role to make a difference.

Donations — Make It Easy to Help

You've already mentioned donating prizes, goods and services, but I'd make it clear that financial donations can also be valuable.

Some supporters might be happy to make a one-off donation but may not want to join the 200 Club or take out membership.

You could add a sentence to the volunteering and donations section:

Financial donations, however large or small, are also appreciated and help us continue providing opportunities for our players.

If you have a designated way to accept donations, you could link directly to it. If not, people could be invited to contact the club.

Building Towards Our Centenary

Founded in 1927, Orrell RUFC has a proud history, a strong community and a future we want to protect and develop.

As we approach our centenary in 2027, we have an opportunity to celebrate everything that makes our club special while looking ahead to the next chapter of our story.

Our ambition is to continue providing opportunities for players of all ages, strengthening our club community and ensuring that future generations can enjoy the benefits of grassroots rugby.

Fundraising will play an important part in that journey. From helping us meet the ongoing costs of hiring training and matchday facilities to supporting the development of our teams, every contribution helps us build towards a stronger future.

Our centenary isn't just about celebrating our past. It's about investing in our future.

Every Contribution Counts

We understand that everyone has different commitments and different ways they can support the club. There is no expectation that every member or family will be able to contribute in the same way.

What matters is the collective effort of our community.

Every pound raised, every hour volunteered, every prize donated, every event supported and every post shared helps us move forward.

Together, we can continue to provide opportunities for our players, strengthen our community and build a club that future generations will be proud to be part of.

Thank You for Your Support

To our players, parents, families, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and supporters — thank you for being part of Orrell RUFC.

Your support helps make our club what it is today and plays an important role in shaping what it can become tomorrow.

We are proud of our history, excited about our future and grateful to everyone who helps us along the way.

Together, we're #KeepingTheFutureBlackAndAmber.
