We don’t do things “lightly” here at our Joint Venture partnership between Orrell RUFC and Winstanley Park Cricket Club

Do you know that the Oktoberfest was originally created to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig of Germany to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12th October 1810. The citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event.

Today, the Oktoberfest is the largest festival in the world, with some 6 million visitors from all around the world converge on the Oktoberfest in Munich each year.
Not wishing to outdo the Crown Prince or anything but we are celebrating our partnership with Winstanley Park Cricket Club and our first inaugural event as OWCSC for he community; we are holding the festivities in front of the gates of the newly upgraded Holland Hall and we are inviting the “citizens” of Orrell, Upholland, Winstanley and beyond ……………

The dates for your diary are Saturday, 20 October and Sunday, 21 October.

Thanks to Prospect Brewery and Wily Fox there will be over 40 different types of ales to try, together with who knows how many different types of gin and prosecco. There will be a hog roast to soak up all the beer, gin and prosecco or if you fancy something a little different, the restaurant at Holland Hall will also be providing meals and refreshment.

Children are welcome (although not buying beer) and there will be a bouncy castle and other activities to keep our little people occupied.

Music …. Well where to start. Playing throughout the weekend will be:
• Skelmersdale Brass Band
• One Hand Clapping
• Roger Cartwright
• Rik Jones
• Andy Mack

Plus, the Holland Hall resident DJ will be playing some “tunes”.

Entry on the day is £12, which will include a commemorative glass and 6 tokens to try your first real ale, gin and prosecco. Children (U12s) are welcome and free of charge.
