A much improved team performance from Orrell's U10s last week as they look forward to this week's away match at Leigh

Orrell u10s vs. Southport u10s

Orrell's Mini and Junior Section U10s produced a much improved and determined approach to this fixture than the previous weeks encounters at Leigh, but despite the performance they were overwhelmed by a Southport team that looked a better unit in the rucking department. The match was split into 3 x 15 minute periods and it was Southport that took an early lead when slack tackling allowed them to run virtually untouched to the try line, Orrell soon replied when Joe using his strength and speed stripped the visitors line like a knife through butter to even up the score, it soon became end to end attacks by both teams with Orrell gaining further tries, a second from Joe and Finn being his usual menacing self, Southport gained the upper hand by scoring that extra try.

The second period saw a equally contested encounter with the Orrell power houses of Shay, Joe, Jack, Will and Tom all making direct runs and causing much damage with their opponents defensive line, Liam looked dangerous with ball in hand with his energetic runs and Thomas K keeping up his recent hard work in defense plus supporting well to take his first try of the season from a very unselfish Finn who offloaded with the White line at his feet, congratulations to Logan making his debut today putting in his hard work around the defense and running freely when opportunity arrives. Second period ending with a try apiece.

The last game saw the time reduce to 10 minutes after two pulsating games, Southport ran well and scored several tries to Orrell's nil but Orrell did start to find their feet at the rucks and mauled well all morning - as mentioned above a much improved team performance and looking forward to the next game.
