Well done to all the players - the future's definitely black and amber

Preston Grasshoppers U8s Vs Orrell U7/8s
]Preston Grasshoppers played host to Orrell's mixed squad of under 7s and under 8s Sunday 11th March, with no sign of the recent bad weather. The hosts set up was nothing short of an eye opener and with Orrell's expansion plans for the future, something to look up to for the benefit of the community.

With 3 games played, all against Preston Grasshoppers large squad members, determination and persistence was key for all to enjoy the mornings games. Orrell showed dogged resilience with their running and tagging games on the up, every game. Matthew Speight was awarded players player for his excellent tagging and huge improvement as his confidence continuous to grow. Colleague, Louis Smith awarded the certificate for Clubman, as he also has improved with his attacking running play and team sportsmanship. Orrell encourages all abilities but it's the team play and enjoyment that really add to the spectacle and with Jack Parkinson, not only excellent on the field of play, demonstrating sportsmanship and team involvement. With Max Worthington offering, without hesitation to play for opposition it's a real joy to see them just there for the sport of rugby union, plus he did put in a great performance. Team mates Harrison Lloyd, Zak Manir Jolley and Jacob Caunce popping the icing on the cake, just for the mother's day spectacle, down at Preston Grasshoppers.

Preston Grasshoppers U9s Vs Orrell U9s

Orrell U9s travelled up the M6 to face a huge Preston Grasshoppers mini section that has the luxury of being able to field 3 large squads at U9s level, but it was Orrell who came away from Central Lancashire with their heads held high and smiles from ear to ear after 3 great performances and 3 wins against one of Lancashire’s elite Rigby union clubs.

Match 1

Orrell flew out of the starting blocks to outplay their hosts with quick tries from Will, now enjoying his free space on the wing position, Patrick who has that every lasting energy level to complete in defence and attack and Tom, who is starting to make trade mark solo runs from half way, all touching down within the first 10 minute half. The second spell saw Orrell relax and less effective tackling and movement saw Preston slowly claw their way back before Orrell regathered their composure and crossed for further tries from the menacing little general Finn and the current try scoring machine of Thomas F, Orrell winning 5 tries to 4

Match 2

Orrell’s ever improving performances are being encouraged superbly by the supporting parents, we can now hear this on the touchline with parents continuously applauding the efforts put in on the pitch throughout the match to every child and not just their own, the first 10 minutes saw Orrell run in 8 tries from Patricks hat trick, Shay who is becoming a very powerful player in attack, Fin, Will, Liam who’s is now looking sharper, more confident and putting in a strong defence when required and Thom F. The second spell became a similar episode to the first match when we relaxed, couple of injuries appeared and small areas of concentration lapsed, allowing Preston to gain tries though Orrell did manage to score a further 4 from Will’s brace, Thomas F and Tom. Orrell winning 12 – 10.

Match 3

The final match saw Thomas W playing his best match so far this season, a typical scrum half, he was commanding, bossy, at every breakdown and had more open play touches than many of his matches prior to today, Orrell’s overall performances are becoming a delight to watch, pure friendship is now developing and all going well on and off the field, their final game saw them win 5 tries to 2 scores coming from a Thomas F hat trick in 2 minutes, Shay and Patrick.
