Orrell won their 1st game of the against Wigan at Home. Unfortunately 9 of the squad of 20, Chris Owen, Gary Nicholson, Matt Stott, Sean Long, John Presho, Scott Astin, James Glover, Stephen Potts and James Pearson that won that game were not available for Orrell's first game away at Liverpool Collegiate and were replaced by John Dickinson, Phil Rowley, Jack Dutson, Kieran Herbert, Alex Gannon, Matthew Farrimond, Robert Lee, Kyle Herbert and Lewis Martindale.

Within a few minutes of the start of the game, Liverpool moved the ball into the Orrell half and got a line out close to Orrell's 22 metre line. The Home side won the line out and moved the ball in field and then back out to the wing to score an unconverted try in the corner. From the restart, Liverpool get a scrum on the half way line, and their fly-half make a 40 metre run down field before he was stopped.

A few minutes later Orrell had a chance to put points on the board with a penalty kick, but it went wide. Just after midway through the half a kick by Orrell went straight into touch, giving the Home side a line out, again close to Orrell's 22 metre line.

The Home side caught and drove the ball, then moved it out and touched down between the post for a converted try to give them a 12 points lead. 10 minutes before the break, after a quick tap and run by Dan Huxley resulted in a penalty being awarded to Orrell, but the conversion attempt again missed. Liverpool again get a line out close to Orrell's line and drove the ball, but Orrell's defence held. Just before the break, from a line out, Orrell catch and drive the ball and get a penalty. They take a quick tap, but then lose the ball and the score remained at Liverpool Collegiate 12 Orrell 0 at half time.

Liverpool kick off the second half. Orrell fail to collect the ball and the home side pick it up and run through to make the score Liverpool 19 Orrell 0 with a converted try. Most of the play continued in the Orrell half and a few minutes later, Orrell have a throw in at a line out close to their own line. Unfortunately they drop the ball behind their own line, which lets Collegiate, touch down on the loose ball for an unconverted try. 20 – 0. Midway through the half, Liverpool get a penalty 15 metres from the Orrell try line and take a scrum.

Their scrum half picks the ball up from the scum and evades the Orrell defenders to score a converted try to extend their lead after scoring 5 tries to 31 – 0. With just over 15 minutes left in the game, from a ruck, Collegiate kick down field and their Right Winger runs onto the ball to score a converted try, to extend their lead to 38 points to Nil. Orrell managed to stop Liverpool scoring any more points to leave the Final Score at Liverpool Collegiate 38 points (6 Tries) Orrell Nil.

Orrell are at home at St John Rigby College, next Saturday 16th September 2017.
