Did you know that on 20th May in the year 1310, shoes were made for both left and right feet? Well on 20th May 2017 the only left and right shoe you will need for Orrell RUFC’s Mini and Junior Section’s Rugby Fun Day is a pair of trainers!

Come on down to Winstanley College (Winstanley Rd, Orrell, Wigan WN5 7XF) between 1.00pm and 5.00pm and try out those trainers on our Rugby Assault Course and tag competitions. Put them to good use as well learning some basic rugby skills or even playing some mini games.

This is a free event open to boys and girls aged between 6 and 10 years of age. Although mums and dads and brothers and sisters are welcome to come along too – we may even let them try out their own trainers!

ps: Trainers were not invented until the late 18th century, people wore rubber soled shoes called plimsolls. Around 1892, the U.S. Rubber Company came up with more comfortable rubber sneakers with canvas tops, called Keds. Adidas was founded in 1949!
