Last week we asked for information regarding the Southern Orrell Supporters. Read on to find out what we know so far .......

The story continues ……………………

The men in the picture were a group called the White Hart Marauders who were an invitational sevens team. They were associated with the club Camberley RUFC who regularly came up to support Orrell. One of the team was related to former Orrell RUFC Wing Ian Wilkinson.

Several the Orrell players of the 1980s played in this team in the Amsterdam sevens tournament; Ian Wynn recalls playing for them a couple of times at the Amsterdam sevens as does Mark Hart “I had the pleasure of playing in two of the tournaments once for the White Hart Marauders and once for their reserve side the Corso Marauders. Both tournaments resulted in some great memories and it was great to play with and against top class players like Gavin Hastings, Micky Skinner etc. Big Fred was a great character as was the guy to the right of him Dave Short”

Quite a few Orrell players played for them over the years including Gerry Ainscough, John Gilfillan, Steve Taberner, Nigel Heslop, Martin Strett, Ian Wilkinson, Dave Fell to name a few.

If anyone has any more information regarding the people in the photograph, the White Hart Marauders or the Amsterdam Sevens, please get in touch; we'd love to add the stories to our archives and memories.

SOS: Does anyone remember these fine fellows from the Southern Orrell Supporters
This was a group of gentlemen from somewhere down South known as the Southern Orrell Supporters. They supported the club and regularly turned at home and away games. The “leader” was a man known as Big Fred. If anyone remembers them or has any information or contact details, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from them.
