Orrell U15's faced Leigh at home this week in a good game of rugby that could easily have gone either way. Despite a solid defensive effort from Orrell holding the line for the first 15 minutes, Leigh eventually broke through, securing the only try in the first half to lead 7-0 at halftime.
The second half saw Orrell with increased passion and intensity - becoming a pattern of late! A quick response came from a Leigh knock-on, leading to a superb try by Seb, expertly converted by Joe. Next, Paddy's well-placed kick found Seb who made a powerful run to the line again for his second try, with a superb conversion from Joe converting to bring the score to 14-7.
Leigh fought back with a penalty tap and run for an unconverted try, making it 14-12. Another try in the same corner followed, also unconverted. Leigh's powerful pack then drove over the line for a converted try, extending their lead to 23-14.
Orrell responded fiercely though with a fantastic drive from Jack E resulting in a team try through the hands of Jack M, and Will T, ultimately finished by Will B for a try, closing the gap to 23-19. Leigh though, dominating in ball possession, showcased superior ball retention.
Despite Orrell's commendable second-half effort, Leigh's strength in ripping the ball and Orrell's room for improvement in rucking made the game a tough contest. Dan earned the Man of the Match for his excellent running and improving week on week.
