ORRELL RUFC POSSIBLY THE FRIENDLIEST RUGBY CLUB IN THE WORLD

New Players Welcome at All Levels & Age Groups

Have you ever wanted to try playing rugby? At Orrell RUFC we are always on the lookout for new players and have teams at every level from U6 through to U16s in our Mini and Junior Section as well as our open age squad.

Rugby is a game that helps children understand Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. Everyone involved in rugby in England, whether as a player, coach, referee, administrator, parent or spectator is encouraged to uphold the Core Values of our sport.

Our Mini and Junior Section was relaunched on 11th April 2010 with a series of fun, skill development sessions followed by an ever-growing fixture list. Since then both the Club and the Mini and Junior section has grown and developed, running teams from U6s right through to Junior Colts and we have extremely close links to several local schools (both primary and junior) and local colleges and a working partnership with Sale Sharks.

We continue to strive to be the friendliest rugby club in the northwest reflected in the RFU Seal of Approval and Club Mark. We take our appointment as a family orientated, community sports club strongly and we welcome everybody to the club irrespective of age, gender or ability - players, parents, spectators, volunteers. We also align ourselves with Rugby Safe which the is RFU’s overarching player safety and wellbeing programme to support clubs, schools, colleges, universities and participants at all levels of the game.

At Mini and Junior level, all our coaches are qualified and are all DBS checked and we have first aid qualified volunteers as well. Our Mini and Juniors train on a Wednesday evening at the Dr1ve Medicals Arena at St John Rigby College and play on a Sunday morning at the same venue.

We offer all children aged from 6 years of age, free taster training sessions starting at any time during our season which runs from early August to late May.

We currently have around 150 children of various ability levels, and new faces are always welcome. The section is supported by a strong coaching and committee set-up, but as we develop and grow, we always welcome new volunteers. All our volunteers are DBS checked and receive appropriate training and help to undertake their roles.

This all sounds very official so why not come down to the Dr1ve Medicals Arena at St John Rigby College one Wednesday evening and see for yourself the fun the teams have; how great friendships are made plus a great game of rugby!
