1st XV
Our 1st XV returned to action with a 45–31 victory vs Clitheroe RFC, scoring six tries to five in an entertaining contest. Huge thanks to the Clitheroe team for kindly allowing us to use their match report and photos from the game. You can read it here on our website.

With earlier postponements to our fixtures against Ramsey and Oldham, this was Orrell’s first competitive match of 2026, making it an encouraging way to start the year.

The rearranged fixtures are now confirmed:
• Ramsey – 7 March 2026
• Oldham – 11 April 2026

An updated fixtures list is now available on the website, including the new date for the 2XV game vs Warrington 2XV.

2nd XV – Legacy in Black and Amber

The 2nd XV produced a strong performance away at Trafford MV, narrowly losing out 32–26 in a competitive and physical match.

The occasion was made even more special by two sets of dads and lads lining up together in the same team, underlining the legacy, history and continuity that runs through Orrell RUFC and the black and amber.

As the season progresses, maintaining a 2nd XV becomes increasingly challenging with local Rugby League preparations underway. The coaching team deserve significant credit for keeping this squad together, and we hope their efforts will be rewarded as the season moves towards its conclusion.

Minis and Juniors – Black and Amber on Display

It was another positive weekend for our Minis and Juniors, with four age-group teams pulling on the black and amber and representing Orrell RUFC with pride.

The U16s and U13s enjoyed a great weekend of rugby, producing strong performances built on teamwork, commitment and playing the game in the right spirit.

Meanwhile, our U14s and U10s showed exactly what junior rugby is all about, with excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and some fabulous rugby on display. The effort, attitude and enjoyment from players across all age groups was a real credit to the club.

Well done and well played to our U14s Players of the Match

Well done to all players, coaches and parents for another weekend that showcased the values of Orrell RUFC.
