Weekly Round-Up — Wins, Festivals & Another Big Weekend Ahead

Weekly Round-Up — Wins, Festivals & Another Big Weekend Ahead

Tracy Monckton25 Feb - 08:00

It’s been another busy and positive week across Orrell RUFC, with success on the pitch and plenty to look forward to.

2XV Win on the Road

Our 2nd XV made the trip to Preston Grasshoppers RFC IV and came away with a well-earned victory in very wet conditions.

It was a performance built on teamwork, effort and resilience — great to see the squad rewarded for their commitment.

Mini & Junior Rugby Highlights

There was some fantastic rugby played across the Mini & Junior section, with teamwork and sportsmanship on display throughout the age groups.

A special mention goes to our U13s, who took part in a competitive triangular against Caldy RFC and West Park Leeds RUFC — a brilliant experience and great preparation for what’s coming next.

Get Involved — Volunteers Make Orrell Happen

Behind every training session, match day and festival fixture at Orrell RUFC is a team of volunteers giving their time to make rugby possible for our players.

From helping with match day set-up, supporting age-group coaches, assisting with events, right through to learning to referee — there are lots of ways to get involved, whatever your experience or availability.

Did you know there is currently a national shortage of rugby referees, particularly at Mini & Junior level? Many clubs, including ours, rely on volunteers to ensure games can go ahead each weekend. The good news is that referee training and support are available, and it’s a fantastic way to stay involved in the game, build confidence and give something back.

You don’t need previous rugby experience — just enthusiasm and a willingness to be part of the club community.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now is a great time.

Together, our volunteers help make Orrell RUFC what it is.

Fundraising & Club Development

Our recent fundraising articles continue to generate fantastic support — thank you to everyone who has engaged so far. If you missed them they are still available on the news section of our website.

We’re excited to confirm that the next stage of our fundraising campaign — including our online auction — will be launching very soon.

There will be opportunities for everyone in the Orrell family to get involved, so keep an eye on our channels this week.

Together, we continue to build the future of Orrell RUFC. Thank you for your continued support.
