More Than Just a Game — Where Your Support Makes a Difference
Following on from our recent article about why fundraising matters to the club, we wanted to share more about what that support actually means in real terms — for our players, our teams and our wider club community.
Because fundraising isn’t just about balancing budgets. It’s about creating opportunities.
Opportunities for Players of All Ages
Every training session, matchday and festival provides players with the chance to learn new skills, build confidence, stay active and form friendships that last a lifetime.
From our youngest players taking their first steps in rugby to senior teams competing each weekend, the club exists to provide positive experiences both on and off the pitch.
Fundraising helps make those opportunities possible.
The Reality of Running a Club Without Our Own Facilities
As a club that hires facilities for training and matches, one of our biggest ongoing costs is simply having somewhere to play.
Alongside facility hire, there are many other essential expenses involved in running a grassroots sports club, including:
• Equipment and training resources
• Insurance and affiliation fees
• Referees and match costs
• First aid and medical provision
• Coaching and volunteer development
• League and competition entry fees
• General day-to-day running costs
These are not always visible, but they are vital.
Keeping Rugby Accessible
One of the club’s priorities is to keep rugby accessible and inclusive for as many players as possible.
Fundraising helps us:
• Keep subscriptions affordable
• Invest in equipment
• Support player development
• Provide safe environments to train and play
• Continue growing the club for future generations
Quite simply, community support helps remove barriers and create opportunities.
More Than Sport — Community Impact
The benefits of grassroots rugby go far beyond the pitch.
Players gain:
• Confidence
• Resilience
• Teamwork
• Respect
• Enjoyment
• Discipline
• Sportsmanship
• Friendships
For many young people, sports clubs become an important part of their identity and development.
That’s why community support matters so much.
How People Support the Club
We’re incredibly grateful for the many ways people already help, including:
• Membership and player subscriptions
• The 200 Club lottery
• Events and fundraising activities
• Matchday refreshments
• Donations and prizes
• Volunteering time and skills
• Using easyfundraising when shopping online
Every contribution — big or small — helps.
Coming Next…
We’ll soon be launching our next online auction, which is one of the ways we raise funds to support the club and invest back into opportunities for players.
We’ve already received some fantastic donations, and we’re looking forward to sharing more details very soon.
Together, we can continue #KeepingTheFutureBlackAndAmber.
