After last seasons semi final defeat Orrell were looking to get back on track in this year's top Lancashire cup competition, having progressed from the Lancashire's lower challenge competitions within two years we knew that we had to up our game.

Orrell started the game looking tired and disorganised, Vale soon took advantage of the situation along with some very obvious refereeing decisions going to the home team, Vale producing 4 tries all converted, before Orrell found some aggression and sense of determination led by the powerfully running of Will B, who from 10 meters took ball in hand and crashed over the line with numerous defenders failing to halt him, Joe converted to bring hope to a one sided first half.

Orrell started were they left off and minutes into the half Will B again struck with speed to bulldoze over one opponent before heading under the sticks for his brace, Joe doing the honours with the conversion, Vale then pulled one back before captain Seb darted through the entire Vale pack to place the ball down over the whitewash, Joe successfully taking a further conversion.

The game was scrappy throughout with no flow from handling errors and continuous whistle blowing, this causing frustration from the Orrell players and eventually penalties were becoming common, Vale ran in further late tries to finish the game comfortable 56pts to 21pts.

Credit goes to the Orrell lads for their commitment at the later stages with Will T running straight and hard, great cover tackling from Shay, Killian improving each game and tackling being praised with the new legal height.
