As a very new group within the club, this young team is right at the beginning of their rugby journey — discovering the game, making new friends and learning what it means to be part of a team.

We are incredibly pleased to be able to field a Mini team at this age group and look forward to watching our youngest players grow, develop and, most importantly, enjoy their rugby.

LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

At U7/U8 level, rugby is all about having fun and learning through play.

Our young players are introduced to the basic skills of rugby in an enjoyable and supportive environment, developing coordination, confidence, teamwork and a love of being active.

There will be plenty of running, passing, chasing, learning and laughing along the way — and that's exactly what Mini Rugby should be about.

THE START OF A RUGBY JOURNEY

For many of our U7/U8 players, this will be their first experience of rugby.

Every session is an opportunity to try something new, make friends and build confidence.

There are no expectations to be the biggest, fastest or most experienced player. We simply want our young players to have a go, encourage each other and enjoy being part of the team.

WELCOME TO THE ORRELL FAMILY

Although they are one of our newest groups, the U7/U8s are already an important part of the Orrell RUFC family.

They join a Mini & Junior section that provides a pathway from those first steps in rugby through to Senior Colts and Open Age rugby.

Today they are taking their first steps on the rugby pitch.

One day, they could be the players representing Orrell's 1XV.

LOOKING TOWARDS 2027

Orrell RUFC was founded in 1927 and is now preparing to celebrate its Centenary.

As we look back at almost 100 years of rugby, it is fantastic to see a new generation beginning their own Orrell story.

Our U7/U8s may be the youngest members of the club, but they are an important part of its future.

JOIN THE ADVENTURE

We are always delighted to welcome new players and families to our U7/U8s.

If your child would like to try rugby, come along and meet the team.
