Welcome to Orrell RUFC 1XV[/b]
Pride. Passion. Tradition. Keeping the Future Black and Amber.
The 1XV sits at the heart of our Open Age rugby, representing a club with a proud history stretching back to 1927. Built on hard work, commitment and togetherness, our first team is about more than what happens for 80 minutes on a Saturday — it is about representing the badge, the players who have gone before us and everyone who continues to support Orrell Rugby Football Club.
For the 2026/27 season, our 1XV competes in the Counties 2 ADM Lancashire & Cheshire league, continuing our journey following last season's league success.

THE 2026/27 SEASON
Every season brings new challenges, new opponents and new opportunities.
Following the success of last season, the 1XV now faces the challenge of competing at the next level. Every fixture will test the squad, whether playing in front of our home supporters or travelling across Lancashire and Cheshire.
But the aim remains the same — to work hard, play with pride and enjoy our rugby.
Because at Orrell, we believe that when players play for each other, something special can happen.
MORE THAN JUST A FIRST TEAM
Our 1XV is an important part of a much bigger rugby family.
Alongside the 2XV, Senior Colts, Junior Colts and our Mini & Junior section, the 1XV provides an opportunity for players to develop, progress and ultimately represent their club at the highest level available to them.
We are committed to creating a pathway through Orrell RUFC where players can learn, develop and enjoy their rugby at every stage.
LOOKING TOWARDS 2027
Orrell RUFC was founded in 1927 and we are now on the journey towards our Centenary.
The 2026/27 season is therefore a particularly significant one as we build towards 100 years of Orrell rugby. Every player who pulls on the black and amber is part of that story — adding another chapter to the history of our club.
Our Centenary is not simply about looking back.
It is about celebrating where we have come from, recognising those who have helped build the club and creating something for the generations who will follow.
PLAY FOR THE BADGE
Whether it is a hard-fought league fixture, a cup tie or a home game in front of our supporters, the Orrell 1XV will always play with pride.
And, above all, we play to enjoy our rugby.
