Didsbury Toc H v Orrell

This was Orrell's first game after 5 weeks without a game. Orrell kicked off and as the ball came down just over the 10 metre line, Orrell gain control of it, and were then awarded a penalty, which was converted by Scott Robinson, giving them a 3 points lead after just 1 minutes play. However Didsbury then took control of the game and poor tackling by Orrell allowed the Home side up into their 22 metre line where they were awarded a penalty. From the penalty Didsbury scored a converted try to take the lead after about 6 minutes of play. A few minutes later Orrell were penalised for not rolling away in a tackle and the Home side extended their lead with penalty conversion. Didsbury 10 Orrell 3. Just over midway through the half, Orrell had a scrum just inside the Didsbury half. They moved the ball out to the backs and centre Scott Robinson kick the ball over the opposition. The ball bounced up for Tom Halsall to collect, who passed inside to full back Matt Scott to score Orrells first try, which Scott converted to level the score at 10 points each. With just over 15 minutes left in the half Didsbury were awarded penalty which they kicked into touch . From the resulting line out the Home side moved the ball out to their backs to touch down in the corner. The try was unconverted, but Didsbury were back in the lead by 5 points. A few minutes later after several pick up and drives by the Orrell forwards in their opponents half they move the ball out to the backs for winger Chris Hanson to score in the corner. Scott converted the try to give Orrell back the lead by 2 points. Just before the break Orrell attempted to run the ball from just inside their own half, but the ball was intercepted. However Orrell managed to stop the attack and the score remained at Didsbury 15 Orrell 17 at the break.
10 minutes after the restart Orrell appeared to be in control of the game, and had possession of the ball close to the Home sides 10 metre line. After a number of pick up and drives by the Orrell forwards, Max Huxley manages to touch down for Orrells 3rd try, which Scott converted to make the score Didsbury 15 Orrell 24. A few minutes later Orrell were reduced to 14 players when winger Tom Halsall was Yellow Carded for a high tackle. 5 minutes later the Home side took advantage of having a extra player on the field to score an unconverted try to reduces Orrells lead to just 4 points. With 10 minutes left in the game, and back to full strength Orrell were given a scrum close to their 22 metre line. Unfortunately, although they had dominated earlier scrums, for the second time in the match Didsbury took the ball against the head and moved the ball out to the backs, to score in the the corner. This was their 4th try of the game for a bonus point and although the conversion was missed it gave back the lead to the Home side by 1 point. In the last minutes of the game neither side could add any further points and at the final whistle the score remained at Didsbury 25 Orrell 24, giving Orrell a losing bonus point.
Next week 14th January 2017 Orrell are again away, this time at Bury. Kick Off 2.15pm.
