Port kick off and take the ball to Orrell in the forwards, and the early exchanges see Orrell give away 6 penalties. Orrell handle the resultant pressure from Port well and eventually settle down to display some open exciting rugby.
On 12’ from a solid Orrell scrum the backs pass the ball through the hands to Matty Stott on the wing and finishes off nicely in the corner. Conversion missed first blood to Orrell 0-5.
With Port on the back foot and Orrell’s confidence growing on 17’ a superb break from Kyle Herbert and exchange to Josh Grant Orrell scores under the posts. Conversion kicked by James Ratcliffe and lead is extended to 0-12.
With Orrell now in full control, and silky handling from backs Tom Halsall crosses the line again in the corner on 37’, conversion missed HT score Port 0-17
Second half under way and the introduction of late arrival Jack Granby saw Port go further behind, good handling and power by Jack Granby he crosses the try line and conversion by James Ratcliffe 0-24, 46’ on the clock.
Port re-gather from the kick off and slack play from Orrell allow Port to score under the visitors post on 54’ conversion kicked 7-24.
Jack Booth comes on for his first team debut and replaces Max Huxley. Twinkle toes running from Scrum Half Adam Worley scores in the corner 7-29. Straight from the kick off Orrell break through the Ports defence again and the electric pace from Jack Granby scores his 2nd try of the match 7-34.
The final try of the match comes from a sparkling run by Matty Johnson and with conversion by James Ratcliffe final score Ellesmere Port 7-41.
