Orrell U13s travelled to Macclesfield for their final game of the season. All the team was is in good spirits as they headed over, for the first time on a coach together. Macclesfield have lost only a couple of games this season so we were expecting a good game of rugby. It was Captain Jacks last game as Captain and he didn’t disappoint, leading his team all the time with just positivity.
On the day Orrell U13s just clicked as a team, with their team mates and supporters cheering them along. The disciplines of union all came together for the team, with excellent speed by forwards to the breakdowns just not giving the opposition a look in, again the forwards performing great in all the scrums adding pressure to Macclesfield from the outset. The back line attack and defence was really on point, with every tackle counting and simply not allowing the opposition any where near the try line.
After the first 15 minutes Orrell dominated and was up 30-0, continued pressure in the next 15 minutes up to 50-0, with continued dominance the team did not want to relent and after 3/4 of the game, was up 75-0. Macclesfield tried to get on the score sheet but Orrell's defence held them out within their own 5m and with a final score at 95-0 the team celebrated a well deserved victory. Finlay worked hard all through the game and gaining 6 tries to his tally.
However, the result was secondary to the whole days experience for the team and it certainly will be a memorable day for the whole squad.
