Orrell RUFC is committed to Age Grade Rugby and ensuring that every player is able to enjoy rugby in a safe environment where they can develop their personal and social skills as well as a wide array of transferable multi-sports skills. This results in their holistic development as well as their lifelong involvement in rugby and other sports.

Responsible to the Director of Rugby

Main Duties

To promote, recruit and train the players of the U13s Squad.

To play a full part in the Orrell RUFC coaching team organising and taking responsibility for coaching sessions appropriate to the age and level of player-development of those involved
To work with other coaches in the Orrell RUFC coaching team, and in association with the Orrell RUFC Mini and Junior Section Committee, to deliver a programme of rugby for all ages that is active, purposeful, enjoyable and safe.
To follow the RFU Half Game Guidelines and ensure that everyone in the match day squad gets to play at least half the game time available.
To maintain high ethical standards in coaching practice and to agree to, and abide by, the RFU Code of Conduct for Coaches and any additions to it agreed by the Orrell RUFC Mini and Junior Section Committee.
Never to engage in coaching or training activities for which you do not have the relevant competency or training.
To promote and abide by the RFU Policies on Anti-Bullying, Equity and the Welfare of Young People.

To undertake all training and actions required to fulfil the coaching role, including, but not exclusively:

Completion and periodic update of DBS checks
RFU-approved child protection training;
RFU Level 1 Certificate in Coaching
To undertake, within a mutually agreed timescale, other training as may be required by the Orrell RUFC Mini and Junior Section Committee.

To be a positive role model for young people and promote the “spirit of the game” of Rugby Union.
To adopt, whenever possible, a player-focused approach to coaching and learning.
To assist in the selection of teams.
To travel to and help organise matches, competitions and festivals.
To provide feedback as required to the Orrell RUFC Mini and Junior Section Committee.
To attend, as required, meetings of the Orrell RUFC Mini and Junior Section Committee.
To inform the Chairman, Coaching Co-ordinator or your immediate coaching colleagues, in advance, of any sessions or games you are unable to attend.
